Report finds Lib-Dem run Stockport Council among the worst performing in the country.
A new report shows that the Liberal Democrat run Stockport Council is one of the worst performing in the country.
In the report by the Times newspaper, out of the 317 councils in England, Stockport council ranked 257th for financial matters, 299th for Social Care and 301st for tackling road repairs.
Commenting on the findings, Paul Athans, the Conservative candidate for Hazel Grove in the upcoming General Election said:
This report from the Times clearly shows that Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council is failing under the Liberal Democrats and their Labour allies.
We have the highest council tax in Greater Manchester and yet we have the 299th worst social care provision and the 301st worst roads in England.
Local people are now paying the price for the Liberal Democrats' incompetence with high council tax and worse services. The solution is clear, we need Conservative councillors back on SMBC to hold the council to account and get a grip of the council finances.
Oliver Johnstone, the Conservative candidate in Norbury and Woodsmoor added:
Since taking control of the Council 2 years ago, the Lib Dems have run down our bread-and-butter services whilst hiking Council Tax bills yet again for struggling households. They take residents for granted by charging them more but providing worse services.
